Microsoft is all set to make inroads by making office 365 more versatile, which would be compatible with different operating system across different platforms. It is slated to work on rival operating system such as Apple iOS, Google Android so that user experience can be unified among them in order to cater user needs. It’s planning to develop this so that user need not switch on to different devices because of compatibility issues.
As per the Regional Director of the Office Marketing, Microsoft Asia-Pacific, Reed Wotiz, said that for now there are two ways to incorporate office 365 installed in your device. Foremost, you can sign up with Office 365 Home Premium that will cost $138 for a year, and that can be done for five varying devices on different platforms. Hence, you don’t have to worry about the cross-platform compatibility. This Office 365 can work in an ease with different gadgets with a better UI supporting .With all this, it also offers is, Skype world minutes and 20 gigabytes (GB) of storage to SkyDrive.
Michael Silver, who is the Research Vice President as well as the Distinguished Analyst at Gartner said “We’re generally sceptical that uptake will be strong initially. Consumers are not used to paying an annual fee for office productivity suites and the price may prove to be higher than they expect, The prior version of Office 2010 had a home and student version which could be installed on three devices for between US$100 and US$150, though it included fewer bundled products, so [the current pricing] is very high in comparison.”
One of the researchers at Canalys, Tang Ping-Chen said that This Office 365 Home Premium will give a better value for the customers. He also said that, this new Office update will purge every drawback that you face from the older versions of Office.
Wotiz also suggested that consumers who are not willing to adopt the additional services can purchase the software as a traditional suite with a single install which would be efficient enough according to the user needs. What’s more haunting is the price factor. These days consumers are least interested in buying the software in terms of yearly subscription or the other.
It includes the latest and most complete set of Office applications and works across up to five devices, including Windows tablets, PCs and Macs.He went on to add that it is available in Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, South Korea, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
